Bathroom Renovation: Before & After

December means it’s time to accept the inevitable: winter is coming. Luckily, you have a cozy, inviting bathroom to come home to. Or do you? Home spa retreats are hard to come by, but we make them happen all the time.

Our December project of the month features one of those transformations. This bathroom was definitely functional, but it was dated and uninviting.

Bathroom Renovation Before

The basic floor tiles, cramped shower and all white tones created a cold feeling that is just what you want to avoid in the winter. It was understated and muted, but these home owners wanted something they could retire to after hard days in the cold. Our goal was to create a bathroom they could look forward to going home to and where they could pamper themselves on the weekend.

The first step was bringing in warmer tones and materials, which are most apparent in the custom built vanity. A warm stain and mid-tone countertops tie in to the off-white walls and limestone-coloured tile.

To modernize the room and make it a luxurious oasis, we added double sinks to the custom vanity and pot lights for clean lighting. Additionally, we included a large glass shower on sliding tracks, a popular door trend right now. The shower also includes a bench, an absolute must-have in current showers.

The new layout was designed for luxury and organization. The built-in custom storage units help fit more into the bathroom, while showing less clutter. We also adapted from the existing layout to save on plumbing costs: something to consider in your own bathroom renovation projects.
